This Machine Shop Technology course prepares the students to shape metal parts on machines such as lathes, grinders, drill presses, milling machines and shapers. This course includes instruction in safety, making computations related to work dimensions testing feeds and speeds of machines using precision measuring instruments such as layout tools, micrometers and gauges, machining and heat-treating various metals and in laying out machine parts. The students will also learn how to use measuring tools andAut instruments and the use of computers to gain the ability to write and execute programs associated with computer numerical control (CNC) lathes and milling machines.
