Program Description

The Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) is a four-year degree program of professional accounting education. It is primarily intended to produce competent professional accountants equipped with professional knowledge and skills with appropriate professional values, ethics and attitudes that will enable them to make a positive contribution to the profession and to society.

The BSA program should provide a foundation of professional knowledge, professional skills, and professional values, ethics and attitudes that enable them to continue to learn and adapt to change throughout their professional lives. These capabilities will enable professional accountants to identify problems, know where to find this knowledge and know how to apply it in an ethical manner to achieve appropriate solutions. The balance of these elements may vary but what is required is to develop the knowledge base and strong skills in order to produce competent professional accountants with appropriate values, ethics and attitudes.

Pursuant to Government Recognition No. T-044 s. of 1992, the four year Bachelor of Science in Accountancy was initially offered at Bataan Colleges (former name of BPSU Balanga Campus).The current curriculum of the program was based on CHED Memorandum No. 3 series of 2007.

Objectives of the Program

  • To develop efficient accountants who will either go into public practice or engage in private/government service;
  • Offer opportunities in which aspiring accountants will integrate acquired theories, principle and practical approaches in professional and community demands;
  • Promote relevant learning experiences among future accountants that will keep them responsive to the challenges of the accounting profession;
  • Turn out aspiring accountants with advanced skills and values open to innovation;
  • To produce accounting graduates who are qualified to take and pass the CPA licensure examination.
