Participation to Psychology Week

This month of February, the University shall celebrate the month of Psychology and will conduct a week-long activity entitled Psychology Wek with the theme “The Role of Psychology in National Development” on February 22-27, 2016. The activity will consist of the following activities to be held on various dates:

State Universities and Colleges receive assistance to establish tech ‘business incubators’

beth pr 620x413The DOST-UP Enterprise Center for Technopreneurship is assisting state universities and colleges (SUCs) in the country to establish their own technology business incubators (TBIs) through Project:Outreach. A typical TBI is managed through partnerships between technology-oriented or knowledge-intensive industries and academic institutions. This setup ensures a proper transition for innovations, through mentoring and networking, from the laboratory to the market. The goal of Project: Outreach is to help set up the support ecosystem, including establishing TBIs, to technology ventures in the areas of the participating schools.
“There is a need to cultivate a culture of technological innovation in the country especially through our higher education institutions. The presence of TBIs in schools will serve as a springboard for new technology-based products and services that can be made available to the public,” said Dr. Luis Sison, program leader of the Enterprise Center.

The College of Social Science and Behavioral Sciences has a new Dean

The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (CSBS) was recently gained a new dean in the person of Dr. Rachel C. Reyes-Laureano.  Dr. Laureano is a registered psychologist, a registered guidance counselor, and a certified assessment psychologist.  She finished her Bachelor of Arts in Christian Education at Febias College of Bible, her MA in Counseling Psychology and her Phd in Clinical Psychology both from the Ateneo De Manila University.Her previous work experiences include being a Guidance Counselor for high school students at the Taytay United Methodist Christian School, Staff Writer at the Far East Broadcasting Company,Lecturer at the Ateneo De Manila University. She also served as the Administrative Manager, Training and Research Specialist, and Associate Professor, all at Miriam College where she stayed for thirteen years.She also served as Junior Psychologist with the Ateneo Wellness Center from 1997 to 2002, and as Psychologist for the Integrated Lifestyle and Wellness (ILAW) Center.  She has served as the Monitoring and Evaluation Consultant for Ancilla Development Enterprises on various projects. 

Dr. Gregorio J. Rodis is the New BPSU President

Doctor Gregorio J. Rodis is the new President of the Bataan Peninsula State University after its Board of Regents (BOR) elected him during a special meeting on April 17, 2015 at the Higher Education Development Center Building, C.P. Garcia Avenue, UP Campus, Diliman, Quezon City. Dr. Rodis bested three other applicants who vied for the presidency of BPSU. 

64 Bataeños qualify to DOST undergrad scholarship

The Science Education Institute (SEI) of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has released recently the result of the 2015 DOST-SEI Undergraduate Scholarship Competitive Examinations that was conducted nationwide last September 21, 2014.

Of 413 4th year high school examinees in Bataan, 55 qualified under the RA 7687 or the Scholarship Act of 1994 and nine (9) under the Merit Program or a total of sixty four (64) students

Incoming and on-going DOST-SEI scholars will receive bigger stipends and other allowances starting school year 2015-2016.

All DOST-SEI scholars who will enroll under the field of Physics/Applied Physics, Geology, Mining Engineering, Agriculture, and Fisheries courses will receive P6,000 monthly stipend from the previous P5,000 monthly stipend.

DOM COB Library Talk

The City of Balanga Library intends to promote the library as a place for lifelong learning through books, journals, and other online materials and through facilitated life coaching as well.

Every month the library features books on certain topics. Various speakers are invited to conduct a short-talk about the selected topic.

Last January 23, 2015, employees and students from different institutions flocked to the Mentoring Program series titled “Conquering 2015: Better and Happier Me” 2:00 in the afternoon at the City Library of Balanga.

Participants listened attentively and eagerly learned from Dr. Delfin O. Magpantay, University President at Bataan Peninsula State University as he shared his tips and tricks on how to unlock a better and happier self.
