Basic Research Ethics Training and Workshop on Standard Operating Procedures

To help faculty researchers of Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) understand basic principles in research ethics, the BPSU Peninsulares Research Ethics Committee (BPSU PREC), in coordination with the Research and Development Office (RDO), conducted a four-day Basic Ethics Training and Workshop on Standard Operating Procedures on November 6-9, 2017 at Patio Luisa, Loui-Is Resort and Restaurant, Balanga City, Bataan. Likewise, it aimed at developing the standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the Research Ethics Committee (REC) for quality assurance. Specifically, it aimed at motivating participants to do and advocate quality ethical research.

Prof. Edlyn B. Jimenez, Coordinator of the University of the Philippines Manila Research Ethics Board (UPMREB) and Prof. Peter A. Sy, from the Department of Philosophy in the University of the Philippines, Diliman and Chairman of National Experts Group on Privacy, Department of Health (DOH)/Department of Science and Technology (DOST) served as the Resource Speakers of the training. Prof. Sy oriented the attendees on the objectives of the training and outlined the topics to be discussed for the four days.

  11. The Post Approval Procedures
  12. The Ethical Researcher

This training-workshop was participated in by 40 BPSU faculty members, together with the Chairpersons for Research and Extension Services.
