Description of the Program

Mechanical engineering is a program that leads to Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and deals upon a number of basic and applied sciences transforming it to design, building, and improvement. The concept and theory applies to the devices, machines, processes and systems that involve work, energy, and any mechanical forces. It also emphasizes on the study of efficient energy transformation of one form to another as well as the behavior of solids, liquids and gases.

The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering is a five-year degree program that has a total of 239 units. The program provides the students with specialized knowledge and skills in English, Mathematics, Physical and Social Sciences, together with gradually arranged principles and procedures of mechanical technology training to enable the students to master the fundamentals and specialized skills of the occupation for which training is desired.

A student is required to finish the first four-years of the course before he/she shall be allowed to enroll in supervised on-the-job training. The training requires that the student completes 360 hours in the summer of the fourth year in the course.

The BSME program was offered by virtue of Memorandum of Agreement between BPSC and Don Honorio Ventura College of Arts and Trades on April 22, 1997. The program was eventually institutionalized by virtue of Board Resolution No. 20, s2003
